The heat has arrived at the olive grove!

From June to August, the olive grove requires different work than the rest of the year. It’s the time to check irrigation, monitor for pests (especially olive fly if temperatures aren’t too high), finish summer pruning, and start preparing the harvesting machinery. In Extremadura, the heat also necessitates shifting work schedules: work is done at dawn and late afternoon, almost never in the strong sun.

A gateway to the world

We’ve redesigned the website. The previous one had become too small as the brand grew, and we wanted a site that better reflected what we do in the field and at the table.

New life in the countryside!

In our farm we practice extensive livestock farming, in which the animals live in freedom, in large open areas, feeding mainly on natural pastures and enjoying a quiet and healthy environment.

Expanding our production

We’ve just planted 100 new hectares of olive groves. A big decision for an estate like ours, but consistent with the brand’s current stage: after five seasons with La Encomendiña, we wanted to grow sensibly, without abandoning the model that has worked for us so far. The young olive trees are already in the ground and thriving.

Why we make Arbequina olive oil (and not something else)

When someone outside the industry asks why our oil is Arbequina and not Picual, Hojiblanca or Cornicabra, the most honest answer is: because it fits with how we understand a good oil and because it fits with this land.
