A dry and hot August, an unexpected ally
This is how August has been for our olive trees in La Encomeniña
August 2025 was characterized by very high temperatures and a lack of rainfall, a demanding scenario for the field. However, this moderate water stress has worked in favor of the quality of our olives:
- It stimulates the synthesis of polyphenols, the compounds responsible for the fruity nuances, the slight bitterness and the stability of the oil.
- It enhances the aromatic intensity and gives our Arbequina a more authentic and differentiated character.
- It favors a fruit with a higher concentration of natural antioxidants, beneficial for health and preservation of EVOO.
Drip irrigation: balancing quality and sustainability
Despite the heat, our olive trees have maintained a healthy development thanks to our efficient drip irrigation system, which allows us to provide only the necessary water at the right time.
This careful management has been key to:
- Avoid excessive stress on trees.
- Optimize every drop of water, reducing our water footprint.
- Reinforce our commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
Looking ahead to the 2025/2026 campaign
This summer’s conditions have laid the groundwork for a harvest of great character: an Arbequina oil with a more complex, fruity and balanced sensory profile, reflecting both the resilience of our olive trees and the care we take at every stage of the process.
We are convinced that the next season will give us an EVOO full of nuances and personality, faithful to the essence of Olivenza and the work of our family estate.
